First day of Love in Music Ensemble for 2nd semester!

We just started our spring semester in Love in Music on January 25th! Love in Music is all about teaching Hispanic students about music and giving opportunities for communities in Santa Ana to relate to music! Every time, after teaching until 11:50, we gathered in a small room and played our ensemble piece for the semester. I am teaching violin to my students; however, I am playing flute in the ensemble!

Last semester, we played “We Wish You a Merry Christmas, arranged by Emily Crocker”, since the concert was around the end of the year and during Christmas time, I think we chose the piece really well.

However, this semester, we chose Pirates of the Caribbean, arranged by Ted Ricketts; we had just started practicing the piece! I am playing flute 2 on this piece, so far, I love this song, and I feel like it is really strong as the opening song for the concert that will be held at churches around the South Bay Area!

I love this opportunity to have a wind and orchestra together to create the best music! I never got to try these kinds of opportunities during the middle school year, so I think this is new and fresh for me to play with the best musicians from each school!
